The Pricing Editor allows a location to quickly update pricing for multiple contacts and multiple products at once. A default price can be used when all contacts or the majority of contacts are being charged the same price for products. Individual pricing can be used for a contact or group of contacts that are charged prices that are different from other contacts. Prices should be entered in advance of orders being generated eliminating the need for any further maintenance. A location has the ability to enter the purchase and/or the sales values for their products.
Use labels to manage pricing groups for contacts and/or products. Before pricing verify that your labels are up to date.
Location Console => Administration => Catalog => Pricing=>Pricing Editor
The pricing editor page displays prices for products and contacts. Use this page to review a location's pricing. Although prices can be changed on the pricing editor page, existing prices should only be changed if you are correcting pricing for a product that was set incorrectly. Changes to the pricing table will change reports that use the pricing table values. Changing prices without adding a new record and closing the old one should be intentional. New prices should be added using the add link (see setting prices below). The target date displays prices that are relevant for the specific date. Selecting the down arrow displays additional filtering options. Once filtering has been set, click the Apply button to filter based on the selected criteria.
Click the add button to set new prices for products. If there is an existing price the editor will place an end date on the old price and a start date for the new price.
Price Type: the type of price you are setting, for products purchased from a vendor/supplier, select purchase for items being sold select sales
- (Set as Default) - Pricing is the same for all contacts or a majority of contacts.
- (Specify Contacts) - For customer specific pricing that will negate Default Pricing. Using contact pricing labels will help when setting contact specific pricing (Administration=>Network=>Labels).
Products: add the product(s) to be priced. If you have a group of products that will have the same price, price them together. Product labels can help with this process especially when changing prices for existing products (Administration=>Catalog=>Labels). Labels must be maintained. When using labels make sure to check that all products are in the label.
Date Range: the dates that the pricing should be in effect. Generally the end date should be left be blank. Putting an end date will on a product's price can result in unpriced products on orders.
Price: the price, out to four decimal points, for the product(s) selected.
Be sure to click "Save Changes."
Tips & Tricks:
- You can review prices on the pricing editor page (not from the add pricing page). Use the filter at the top to review specific pricing. The filter can be expanded to select contacts and/or products. To expand the filter, select the down arrow at the bottom of the filter to see more options.
- When setting new prices be sure to remove all previously priced products before adding a new product or group of products to be priced.
- Pricing can be changed directly from the pricing editor, however if you would like historical prices to be preserved, use the add page which will add an end date and a start date for the new record.
- The clone feature can be used to copy specific information from a particular product that is chosen as the source to one or more other products.
- If a contact is charged the default price, it is unnecessary to add individual pricing for that contact.
- Be extremely careful when using end dates for pricing.
- Pricing can also be set and viewed for a specific product from the product details page
